Tunisia - Science and technology strategy 2007
Tunisia is determined to be a country where performance stands for knowledge and education. It has adopted the advanced countries’ policy that made of scientific and technological research an absolute priority. Today, the real challenge of these countries is to gain the leadership in innovation.
In 2004, the President of the Republic announced the creation of the Ministry of Scientific Research, Technology and Competency Development. This decision was a turning point in the promotion of R&D in Tunisia. It allowed this sector to build its own institutional capabilities (legislative and structural).
In January 2007, this Ministry joined the Ministry of Higher Education, a decision that reiterates t h e key role of universities in the national scientific research and innovation system and to engage all the components of this system in a global vision of quality, pertinence and synergy with the economy and the whole society.
